Cambridge Park murders: Man charged in gruesome alleged murders of western Sydney burger shop owners

A man has been charged over the alleged gruesome murders of the owners of a burger shop, whose bodies were found in a shocking morning find at the takeaway in Sydney’s west.

NSW Police were called to Buzzy Bee’s Burger House on Oxford Street at Cambridge Park, near Penrith, following reports of an alleged assault about 9.40am on Saturday.

Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command arrived at the scene and found the bodies of shop owners and parents Hoa Tek Chiem, 69, and Heang Kim Gau, 68, with significant injuries. NSW Police said.

The bodies were first discovered by family members, in what police described as a “confrontational” scene.

“The family is obviously devastated,” NSW Police Detective Inspector Michael Cantrell said.

Following the shocking discovery, police launched investigations, assisted by the State Crime Squad’s Homicide Squad, and a crime scene was established.

“After enquiries, at around 12.30pm on Sunday, police arrested a 31-year-old man at a home in Canley Heights.” NSW Police said.

Police now believe the alleged attack was targeted and will argue in court that all three people were known to each other.

“All motives are being considered at this time” Det. Superintendent Cantrell said. “(But) we have no intelligence to suggest there is any additional threat.”

The. Police Chief Cantrell said police were also looking at video footage of the incident.

“I’m aware there’s footage around, and it’s gone through social media, and we’re looking into it,” he said.

The man was charged with two counts of domestic violence-related murder and was denied bail. He will appear in Parramatta Local Court later today.

The owners and parents ran the takeaway shop for 30 years and their deaths have left the community shocked and saddened.

“Great people, great food. It’s heartbreaking,” a local told 7NEWS.

“Dad was almost ready to retire.”
