Masashi Kishimoto heralded Naruto’s Fourth Shinobi World War when Minato was alive

Eiichiro Oda may be the master of foreshadowing in the anime industry, but his rival, Masashi Kishimoto, can also use this method of storytelling. From Madara hating being approached from behind to Sasuke being wrapped in a snake on a chapter cover, Naruto is clearly a beloved series that has been planned from the beginning. However, one of the best examples is the foreshadowing of Obito Uchicha and the declaration of the Fourth Shinobi World War being linked back to his mask during the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox’s attack.

Obita is one of the most calculated villains in Narutomaking this part of the foreshadowing completely intentional by Kishimoto. The way it was written into the story and his future actions should have been obvious to fans that it was him all along.

Uchiha may be an underachiever but we must remember that his initial goals were the same as Naruto’s, to become the next Hokage, but he lost his faith in humanity. Fans were disappointed that he wasn’t the final villain, despite being the antagonist behind all the devastating events of Naruto Shippuden. This was first foreshadowed when even Naruto’s parents were still alive.

Obito Uchiha has become one of the most likable and justified villains Naruto Shippuden. At first he wanted to be the next Hokage but the death of Rins, his old friend, at the unwilling hands of his other old friend, Kakashi, turned him into the villain we know today. Still, Rin’s death wasn’t the only reason he became the calculated person he was. Madara Uchiha had basically cleared Obito after rescuing him under the boulder and giving him no choice but to join him.

Madara’s motive became Obito’s motive. It’s a classic story of a vulnerable child who becomes a monster in the hands of someone more powerful and wants a scapegoat. Although many fans don’t find it justifiable after the devastating attacks and the war he fought, he is undeniably a well-written villain. He has that too a flair for the dramatic to Masashi Kishimoto have been used to foretell future events.

How Kishimoto has foreshadowed Obito’s actions from the beginning

The nine-tailed demon Fox Attack was revealed to be his work, but something strange about it was his mask. The patterns matched the exact frame of the Ten-Tails during the Fourth Shinobi World War. Even the eye matches the moon above the Tailed Beast.

There is no way Obito’s path wasn’t completely planned by Kishimoto. The mask is entirely too similar to this frame and given that he started the war, his aim really began to tunnel vision against the Tailed Beasts. The visuals of his masks, something specific to Obito, and the terrifying creature are chilling and brilliant.

Kishimoto may not be the master of foreshadowing, with some fans finding this part of foreshadowing too obvious to be called “good” storytelling, but Obito’s journey is one of the greatest in terms of antagonist writing in anime. He finally sacrifices himself after he sees his old self in Naruto. The mangaka successfully brought his story full circle and will remain memorable in Naruto.
