Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy to meet with House Republicans

WASHINGTON – Businessmen Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will meet with House Republicans next week to discuss cuts in federal government spending, among other things.

The move comes as the pair are tapped by the president-elect Donald Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency. Trump wrote in a statement that the new department’s focus will be to “dismantle government bureaucracy, cut redundant regulations, reduce wasteful spending and restructure federal agencies — essential to the ‘Save America’ movement.”

Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La. divided by Xpreviously on Twitter, that he will host the pair on December 5.

“Looking forward to hosting @elonmusk and @VivekGRAmaswamy next week on Capitol Hill to discuss major reform ideas to achieve regulatory layoffs, administrative reductions, and cost savings – & revive the principle of limited government! @realDonaldTrump has made this possible!” Johnson wrote.

In an article in the Wall Street Journal, Musk and Ramaswamy outlined his reform plan the federal government under the new department, which included overseeing a massive reduction in the federal workforce.

“DOGE intends to work with embedded agency appointees to identify the minimum number of employees required at an agency to carry out its constitutionally authorized and statutory missions,” they wrote in the oped.

Musk and Trump previously met with House Republicans in a closed-door meeting in November, with Trump endorsing Johnson for a second term.
