Canyon bookstore is expecting a big crowd for Small Business Saturday

CANYON, Texas (KFDA) – Panhandle small businesses are celebrating Small Business Saturday with deals that will help support our community.

A Canyon business owner says shopping local boosts our economy and keeps more money in the area.

Those trading in large-scale companies will only see about 15% of their money stay in the area. That number drops to 7% when you shop online.

“Small businesses are so important to our local economy. They say you shop at a local business 30%, almost 30% of your purchase will stay local,” said Dallas Bell, owner of Burrowing Owl Bookstore.

The owner of Burrowing Owl says that when you shop local, you not only support their business, but they turn around and support the community as well.

“The beauty of our local stores is that we are here to help you. We look for what you need and we hope to give it back to you,” Bell said.

This Saturday, small businesses are getting ready to welcome into the community so they can get to know them better.

“Small Business Saturday is one of the ways we get to know you better, we hope you get to know us better on this day as well. It’s just a fun day to really give back to the people who serve you,” said Bell.

Many local small businesses will have deals this Saturday after Black Friday.
