NEW YORK – Mayor Eric Adams publicly criticized members of his own Democratic Party for comparing former President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler, calling the comparison “an insult” to Holocaust victims and survivors.

During a performance at The view on Friday, Adams was asked by co-host Joy Behar to comment on Trump’s influence and rhetoric. While avoiding direct condemnation of the former president, Adams expressed concern about the divisive language used in modern political discourse.

“We’ve reached a point in this country where we no longer want to engage in conversation,” Adams said. “They even called (Trump) Hitler. It’s an insult. It was an insult to the millions of Jews and others who died. We know what Hitler did.”

Adams’ remarks come amid heightened tensions between Democrats and Trump, as the former president campaigns for a potential return to the White House. Critics within the Democratic Party have often likened his policies and rhetoric to authoritarian regimes, but Adams cautioned against such comparisons, arguing that they diminish the historical gravity of the Holocaust.
